Finished work on my questionaire. I needed to find out some information on my target audience, so i asked three simple questions in order to achieve this. This was simply finding out their age group and what they would like to see in a musical promotion based documentary.
I did a good job of choosing my questions, as they are clear and open. I can also find out everything i need from them.
I now need to have all my questionaires filled out, finish my proposal, then pitch my final idea.

I finished my unit 4.3 work. This involved demonstrating skills that i have not yet used in previous work. Firstly i demonstrated the use of screen capture and voice overdubbing. This took me a long time to capture properly as the sound did not work at first. After it was sorted i manged it well. I did this by capturing the screen on Windows Encoder, and capturing the sound aswel as the screen. I then used Audacity to record my voice over, then imported both pieces into Adobe Premiere.
Then i had to show finetic editing. So i staged a fight between two people and filmed it at a few different angles. Then i edited it to fit well with each other and added heavy music to set the mood. This worked really well and i did a good job of making it work. The only problem was the sound levels, but i made them equal by altering the levels and it was fine.

Just some notes on what i must do for 4.3
half of the work is learning more about my target audience. so questionaires, interviews, focus groups etc will tell me more and prove there IS a target audience.
The second half is to practice techniques i will use in my product. i have never used quick camera cuts with sudden stop/start music (MTV style) so i will do this. i have never over dubbed my voice to narrate, so i will do this. finally, i have never screen captured. so i will do this.
they only need to be basic, but i just need to demonstrate i have practised this.

I had done work on 4.2 however, it wasnt detailed enough, and so was infact suitable for 4.1 - i will now need to make it detailed and a "certain" approach in order to have it classed as 4.2
I also need to make my own schedule for unit 4. the dead line for it is november 30th, so i need to fit in times when all of it will be finished.
I am also ready to pitch my idea, which is part of unit 4, and i will do the pitching on the 8th of this month.
I have also been told that my AS re-sit is due at the end of may. so i will need to plan out when i will do each piece of work.

I stated work on the "what, why, who, where and how."
I discovered that this is as literal as it sounds.

Filming my product needs to commence at around the 30th of October. My main chunk of filming will be concert shots and interviews at concerts, so it is important i find a number of possuble dates of concerts i can attend to begin filming.
I will do this by finding local bands on MySpace, and looking at their gig listing. I will be able to see if there are any conserts in november/early december, and if there are, that band becomes a possibility. I will then e-mail the band, asking for permision to film them and interview them. If agreed, i will attend their concert and begin.

I began to improve my single pitch for my main idea. I changed it to suit the review on it when i first did the pitch. I added more information about my product, and took ouot everything i felt unneccessary.

I have leart how to capture exactly what is going on on my computer screen. This means that i can capture myself using MySpace, and import it into my product.
The programme is called Windows Media Encoder.
The programme is called Windows Media Encoder.
- Click Capture Screen
- Specific Window (this looks best, however, an entire screen can be captured)
- Audio can be added by clicking it on
- Find a place to save the file
- Select High Quality
- Fill in the details
- Click finish
- Press Start Capture, and the window closes, immediatly capturing the screen
- To pause, bring Encoder back up
- Press Stop - Preview it
It is a good idea to bring up the window required for filming BEFORE bringing Encoder up.

- Checking whether i can capture screen shooting

My work on 4.1 (originating and researching ideas for production) was continued.
I looked at what products are similar to mine and used this to find a gap in the market. This was then used to say why my product worked well.
I then gave ideas for my product with some basic research.
Finally, i researched what is involved in my documentary. For example, the use of MySpace, and how it works.

30th June
I pitched my three MAIN ideas on a powerpoint presentation to the teacher.
These were:
These were:
- Music in the MySpace era
- Post Smoking Ban
- Modern life of teenagers
After i finished my pitch, i was told that:
- I would be able to do the MySpace idea, and that it should work well
- The smoking ban idea could work but some of the ideas wouldnt work, as the ban has already taken place
- The teenagers idea could also work, but the MySpace idea is a stronger idea

26th June
I decided on my three main ideas i will pitch:
Modern Rock n Roll
Post Smoking Ban
Inside look on Teenagers
I chose these three because i beleive they are most flexible in what i can film. They are also generally more intersting than the other three so i know that i would have more ideas to film and that it would work well.
I then Began work on my Microsoft Powerpoint presentation for my ideas pitch. I decided that i can get my ideas across easier if i present them properly. I think that i will do this well by using Microsoft PP.

Researching ideas and finding my own ideas for my product. I brainstormed my ideas so I could clearly see what each idea would involve. Then as I begin my initial research, I will be able to pick the best idea for the product a lot easier.
My ideas are:
Modern Rock n Roll
Post Smoking Ban
An inside look on teenagers today
Drugs Information
Modern and Local Entertainment
Technology - How we have developed
I chose these ideas because they are all fairly different from each other. They also leave a lot to the imagination, so i can develope each idea and make a decent and informative film. They can also be done locally and in which case will be easy to find locations to film and people to interview. I now need to decide on three of the ideas, and pitch them. Finally i will then be able to decide on a final idea to use.
